Yeang-Der Group Donates Millions to Taipei Veterans General Hospital to Support Research and Treatment of Youth Depression and Suicide Prevention
In the past two decades, the suicide mortality rate among young people in Taiwan has soared by more than two times, from about 4 per 100,000 people to about 11 per 100,000 people last year. The loss of young lives is not only a loss to the country and society, but also an unbearable pain for families. Many suicidal intentions are very subtle, even more so in young people. Unfortunately, in Taiwan, many factors lead young people to choose to suppress and face depression symptoms and suicidal ideation alone, thereby delaying the time and opportunity to seek external help and increasing the risk of suicide death.
In view of this, Yeang-Der Group donated NT$10 million to Taipei Veterans General Hospital to support the "Youth Depression Research, Treatment and Suicide Prevention Program." The donation ceremony was held on September 26, with Chairman Hsu Yu-Jui donating and President Chen Wei-Ming accepting the donation on behalf of the hospital.
Yeang-Der Group has long supported Taipei Veterans General Hospital. The Hui-Chung Foundation, which belongs to the Group and made this donation, was co-founded by the late Mr. Hsu Chin-Te. The purpose of the foundation is to help poor patients in Taipei Veterans General Hospital who cannot afford medical expenses. Today, this mission continues to be carried forward by future generations, combining group resources to support various medical research projects and provide medical supplies and equipment to Taipei Veterans General Hospital.
